Liquid Roads is a full evening multi-genre dance event that incorporates live music from music director Brian Casserly. We were excited to return to Interlochen Arts Academy to teach and create, inspire and be inspired. Eric taught ballet and partnering while Gina choreographed “Facing Home”. Her collaboration with visual artist Emily Leonard and the visual arts students produced stunning sets and costumes. Nashville singer songwriter Peter Bradley Adams mentored Interlochen singer songwriter student Hannah Ayrault and with two of her songs and two co-written songs, the musical landscape of the piece was created. Residency and World Premiere - Interlochen, MI
VOICE’s winter residency at Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan was a great success. Gina choreographed “Echoes” for the Interlochen dance majors and Eric taught ballet, pas de deux, and character classes during our month long residency. Dancers Masa Kolar and Denisse Eliza joined us for a three week creation period during which Gina developed material for upcoming projects and culminated in a showing on the 12th of February. This showing titled “Tempering” was the basis for our “Aphrodite Dances: Chocolate” performance. VOICE also facilitated collaborations between other departments including ESL, music, creative writing, and visual arts. We were so thrilled that the Dream Threads Project continued at Interlochen following its previous incarnations in Austin and at the Chicago Printmakers Collaborative. - December 13-17 2010
